Freshwater

Freshwater is a scenic suburb located 17 km northeast of Sydney’s CBD, part of the Northern Beaches region and administered by Northern Beaches Council. Historically, the area was used by the Garigal and Gayamaygal Aboriginal clans, with evidence of their presence still visible through rock engravings and shelters.

Freshwater Beach, nestled between Curl Curl and Queenscliff, is a popular spot for locals and visitors, and is part of the scenic Manly to Curl Curl Beach walk. Freshwater is known for its relaxed coastal lifestyle and has two primary schools: Harbord Public School, established in 1912, and St John the Baptist Catholic School. For higher education, Freshwater Senior Campus in nearby Curl Curl serves Year 11 and 12 students.

Key landmarks include the Harbord Beach Hotel, a local favorite nicknamed the “Harbord Hilton” due to its renovations, and Harbord Diggers, an RSL club redeveloped into a seniors living complex. Freshwater offers a blend of beachside charm, community spirit, and historical significance, making it a desirable place to live on the Northern Beaches.
